With school back up and running, finding time to post isn’t as easy. However, Labor Day weekend gave me some time to take pictures of our kitchen, and I wanted to finally post about our kitchen updates! Due to us moving into a new house, there wasn’t much that needed to be done. Yet I think you’ll agree that the small updates I did make made a HUGE difference.
I already loved the kitchen cabinets, the backsplash, and our floors. But I felt that some lighter countertops, different pendant lighting, window treatments, and a lighter wall color would change the whole look of the room.
I love how bright our kitchen is, and have found it to be a great gathering space to host our friends! For the rest of the kitchen resources, see below.
Barstools: Madeleine Armless Fabric Stool in Weathered Oak, Restoration Hardware
Round kitchen table: Round Blanca Table, World Market
Kitchen table chairs: Simone Wicker Chairs and Parsons Chairs, Ballard Designs
Kitchen table vase: Tuscan Terra Cotta Vases, Pottery Barn
Corner lamp: Target
Corner tray: Magnolia Market
Decorative wall plates: HomeGoods

I am in love with your kitchen! Our kitchen is needing major updates and I’m loving how white and bright your space is. It’s so homey. & I totally didn’t know you were a teacher. I teach third grade in NC!
Thank you so much! Coming home to a bright, “homey” kitchen after a long day of teaching is the BEST!
Such a beautiful kitchen my precious Katherine. You forgot to post that your mamma helped paint it that color and we had so much FUN working together. Ha Ha!!!! Mothers and Daughters who paint together laugh together, stay together, create memories together! 🙂 I love you dearly and am so touched by the beauty you create all around you. Thankful for your inner beauty that shines!!! # shine bright for Jesus. # Tucker painted too #painting with my mooshkie is fun!!!
I love your remodel!! Beautiful! I also have darker granite but really want lighter granite instead. Was it quite expensive to replace? What did u do with the other granite you replaced the marble with? Also are your cabinets white or cream? Thanks!!
Thank you!!! I got a ton of different quotes for the countertops and actually got them for a fairly good price. Definitely not cheap, but not as expensive as you might think! The granite that they tore out was pretty much ruined, so they just took it with them. The cabinets are white, but more of a warm white than a “stark” white!!!
Hi Katherine!
I absolutely adore your blog!! I am currently doing a kitchen remodel and we have been on the search for marble counter tops for a couple of months now and haven’t found one we both love – and can agree on 🙂 Was wondering if you purchased your slabs here in Houston and if so, where?
Thanks so much 🙂
Hi Sarah! I am so sorry that I’m just now responding. Thank you so much for your sweet compliment! We got ours at Houston Granite & Marble Center and got a great price!!! I highly recommend going there!
Love your style! What is the name of your backsplash tile?
